Marketing For Manufacturers

The importanceof being social

The engineering sector isn’t best known for embracing social media, but whether we like it or not it’s now an important, if not the most important, part of marketing a company. Platforms such as LinkedIn and Facebook have opened up new ways of networking and marketing to your dream customers.

Social media can break down the barriers to getting your brand in front of buyers who were once unobtainable. It can also give your company a personality, instead of being just another faceless corporate entity on an industrial estate.

Facebook Ads & Posts

Facebook isn’t just for B2C and chatting with your mates, it’s a way to add personality to your company and let customers, and potential customers, see what’s happening on a day to day basis, behind your closed doors. Most of engineering takes place behind closed doors on industrial estates, so Facebook can be an ideal way to show the people behind those walls and how nice they are to work with. It’s also an ideal tool to bring awareness to your tooling and capabilities.

Instagram Posts,Stories & Advertising

As with Facebook, Instagram is another ideal tool to tell the story of your company. It’s a simple tool that allows us to show the world what we’re up to and what we are capable of, especially out of hours where our target customers may be relaxing and a little more receptive to us.

Buyers and bosses of our dream customers are still human, they will often engage with this more informal approach to marketing than they would a letter or sales call. After all, people buy into people and what better way to show it than Instagram or Facebook!

LinkedIn Posts

LinkedIn is the business worlds answer to Facebook, it can open doors to companies we once could only ever dream of talking to. The key with LinkedIn is to not sell your product or service, strange as that may sound, it’s far better to use LinkedIn as a tool to build a relationship in order to gain a telephone call or meeting.

LinkedIn skips straight pass the dreaded gatekeeper at reception, it allows you to engage directly with the person in question, but make sure you have something useful for them (not you) that may help or inspire them.

Email Marketing

These days email marketing tends to receive a bad press as we’re so swamped by boring vanilla emails day in day out (yawn!). But email marketing is anything but bad, as long as you spend quality time in making sure the content is of some real value to the recipient.

The recipient isn’t interested in your news or what machines you have on offer this week, they want to open up that email and learn something of use to them and their company. If you produce high value emails like this they will convert into sales.
